1. Different macro story and drivers. I'm an economist and very macro guy.
2. CL behaves very different than ES and euro. Its much less liquid. Has a tendency for violent breakouts. And its trendier. The last statement I have not tested statistically.
Furthermore, at some point my dream job was to trade oil or oil derivatives physically, but I didn't make it into one of the commodity houses.
CL traders move price knowing there is money to be made. The volume appears to be small compared to the big boys, but prices are matched to keep the market moving. As soon as Australia and Japan open in the eve, the price is on the move. I believe the trends are great compared to the run and stop, turn, run and stop, turn of the es and 6e. CL teetering on 2 major supports. With winter coming at a quickening pace, it could be retesting the 86 level before long.
Have you tested the former statement statistically?
Are folks here getting caught out, adversely surprised, hammered, mauled by such break outs?
how frequently?
in which time frames?
Looking for a near term trend reversal today - Shake out below the low today - I longed from 92.43 after trying a few times to get on board. Looking for a move higher in this range now
Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication, Leonardo da Vinci *
the two are not contradictory at all.
perhaps you will realise that someday.
keep it simple ... keep it as simple as possible but no more simple than that!
the questions are may appear basic because I am new and participating in a forum actively (for me anyway) for the first time.
your "violent" breakouts are not a matter of fact but rather a matter of perception and time frame.
what percent of the "violent" breakouts occur against your position or what you imagine would be your position if you were in the market?
on what time frame?
these breakout that you perceive to be violent may occur within one bar of a higher time frame.
please give some dates and times and time frames (more generally, bar type, tick ,volume, etc.)
honestly curious to see what you perceive to be a "violent" breakout that would have mauled you.
kind regards ocean breeze
Must say you write arrogantly for being anonymous and uninformed about who you are interacting with. At least introduce yourself before patronizing strangers. Already gave you a date and time frame. ISIS breakout.
