I've been taught to solely use them with my FX trading.

I haven't tried Range bars with shares and I don't trade Futures so can't comment about those.

They seem to work well with FX periods of high and low volatility. I am not sure how Range bars stack up against other types of bars (e.g. tick or MedianRenko??)
