Have you considered using the Market Analyzer to create this alert?

Open Market Analyzer -> Right Click -> Columns -> Indicator -> Select Moving Average Indicator on Right Side -> Alert Conditions -> New

There is something that you can use:

Price can be considered as a 1-period moving average. This allows you to reformulate you question. In fact you wish to be alerted to a moving average cross, with one of the two moving averages being a 1-period moving average.

If you talk about moving average crosses, you can use the indicator known for detecting such crosses. This is the MACD. When the raw MACD crosses the zeroline from below or from above, this is a moving average cross.

For example you can use the MACD Universal, which allows you to select from 30 different moving averages.

If you just select SMA(1) for the fast moving average - this is price - and then select a slow moving average as needed, you will get what you look for.

The Universal MACD indicator comes with sound alerts. I have not yet put it into the download section of the forum, as I am still planning to make a few modifications. You can find it here:

@Fat Tails

I too am looking at audible alerts. I think I can make traction with your suggestion here, but I do not have a lot of screen room for another indicator. I am wondering if an audible could be added to my adaptive cci? I'll post pics after lunch. Maybe I should try to combine the "view" and create one "long" or "short" indicator bias that could be tested?

It is pretty simple to add alerts to any indicator. You just need to specify what you want to be alerted to. Then someody has to code it and create the sound files.

I think that it is feasible, but would need to be coded into the indicator.
