Very close to this ideas (greater and earlier I believe), there is the Garrett Lisi's work. It's really amazing and interesting (above all for who knows physics), also his way of live.
It's difficult to explain in few words, I'm gonna try: His extremely reputated work says and shows that the whole explanation for a Theory of Everything is purely (and more than 3-dimensional) geometrical based. And with a geometrical model, he gets almost all elementary particles. Awesome!.
I can't say that it implies a fractal conception (but may be), but I can say that fractals has a geometrical conception .
I believe Aliens people claim to encounter or be abducted by could very well be human time travelers from the future who have discovered how to travel back in time. The only difference is that they're hundreds if not thousands of years more evolved than the current human is. Perhaps genetic engineering will help humans evolve exponentially when they figure out how to manipulate their own genes in a lab to have larger brains and eyes etc.
