Does anyone here specifically trade events (swing trade or long term)? Curious what events and corresponding markets individuals trade

For example trading CPI or PPI? Do you trade it against the USDX?
JOLTS against the INDICIES?

Any other events and market pairs you can recommend?

Thanks for any input and direction

I used to trade binary events but I found for me it was a wash. I'm sure there are many traders that are good at it, but I'm not one of them. These days I prefer to be on the sidelines during news events and only trade when I know I have an edge.

So just now for example I am aware of two events that occurred this morning at 8:30 EST.

US IMPORT / EXPORT PRICE INDEXES
US RETAIL SALES

At the time of report the ESH15 broke out of a 5 minute channel it had been building for about 3.5 hours. As soon as it broke I shorted. In 3 minutes it went down to 1990.50. Easy scalp.

After I finished my event trade for this I went to looking through the other futures to see what else moved at 8:30 over these reports. Obviously all of the indices (ES, NQ, NK, YM) they all followed suit and can see how retail sales has the impact on all of these. Which brings me to my question.....

I also noticed strong up moves in FV and US. Is this move retail sales based? Or is it the US Import/Export price indexes that moved those bond markets? Direct inverse correlation to markets only? Or an event that I didn't have wrote down that occurred this morning.

Thanks
