Well, I've been writing some strategies in OEC platform, using Easy Language.
When I backtest, it shows the right trades. But when I put it to simulate live with a demo account, the orders just dont make sense anymore. And if I just reload the strategy, the orders that just didnt make sense correct themselves.
I know the demo platform is full of bugs. The question is: Is this another one of them? Or will happen the same thing if I put auto trade in my live account?
Well, thats it.
Thanks!!!
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
I noticed the same thing in SIM mode. The stops get filled way way late, and with several tics slippage. REPLAY mode is the same way. What has helped is buying and selling at the market. That way I only lose one or two ticks a trade.
I think OEC means to be prudent by giving lousy fills on stops in the SIM, and REPLAY modes so that when we use the system that we were practicing with, the real trading with real $$$ results are better.
I doubt that is the intention of OEC, as the goal of the demo is to come as close as possible to the live mode.
However, many trading companies separate between their "demo engine" or production versus the real engine that directs its orders to the centralized engine of the exchange. These differences for some engines are more subtle than others. The reason for this separation is that the "demo" guys do not slow the servers to the real users.
I have tested a number of times the OEC platform, and both the demo and real seem to reflect well the exchange's movement. Maybe you should try it now, and for a full blown feature rich platform which is free, you get the bag for your buck. By the way, Gain Capital which supports our users on OEC provides outstanding service.

I think they have been focusing on the improvement for real traders, not demos.
Will not dispute other's experience with demo fills, not my priority when it comes to a platform.
So far real execution has been robust.

This is a wrong thread as this is OEC. But....
Although we came a long way in terms of looks and design, Lind Xpress was a phenomenal piece of trading software.
It was stable, and has anything that a traders needs for execution. This later led to the evolution of Lind Connect that was also good, but sadly it was taken away form the market because LW was acquired by MF Global.
They also killed Strategy Runner that was one of the first server side OCOs.
One day, hopefully, you will understand what a "source code" is and stability and then you will not LOL at something that suppose to get credit. Most savvy traders are look for stability and could compromise some aesthetics got low latency execution and stability.
Since this is an OEC thread, all I can tell you that in my opinion it it stable and written on a good source code. MultiCharts.Net, Sierra, CQG Trader are also up there.

ah, MF GLobal, the biggest has got to be the best? right??
They had a picture of this greasy sleazy looking guy talking on a cell phone for their opening page. Then when I called them, who ever answered the phone didn't now what futures was. "oh, you mean commodities". They said that the account that I had didn't have any money. They didn't know that bean meal meant soybean meal. I closed my account immediately. Good thing too, because all hell broke loose two months later.
The platforms available today are amazing. And I shouldn't make fun of their ancestors.
