I like reading the Blog called "TraderFeed" and this latest post caught my attention:

TraderFeed: Best Practices in Trading: Using Movement to Gain Emotional Control

here is the first paragraph

Quoting
We know from research that exercise has a number of health and emotional benefits, including increased well-being and improved concentration. In spite of this, most traders work in highly sedentary ways, seated at a desk and watching screens for hours at a time. The lack of movement keeps us restricted to a narrow state of mind and body and makes it difficult to shift our state when we enter periods of frustration or discouragement. There are also significant health risks associated with sitting.

He goes on to talk about using a Treadmill workstation.

It sort of sounds like a good idea to me. My workstation is not 100% static in that instead of a chair I sit on one of those large inflatable balls that you might use in a gym. I also play music in the background (blues mostly) and if the mood strikes me I can sort of "bounce" on this ball to the rhythm of the song.

I have found this to be much better than sitting in a rigid chair and certainly strengthened my core muscles.

The use of a treadmill sounds even better to me...a minor workout. I doubt I would be jogging and deciding on a trade but perhaps a slow walk would be fine.

Has anyone done this?

hmmmm.... have you ever tried such a device yourself.

As I said I use an inflatable ball as a chair and I love it, especially when combined with music that I like. It allows a sort of sitting dance and I find my posture has improved a lot.

I am not much for going-to-the-gym ... this is my weak attempt at compromise

Here is an article on the use of such a desk

Personally I could not see myself doing this for hours on end... but sitting on the ball I can do so... But then I am not as active as I probably should be {sigh}
