Looking for career/job

I created my own post because the aforementioned link is dated and I did want to advertise that I can work with software.

I recently found out my software contract is coming to a screeching halt, my work is no longer needed and they have a demand for someone with extensive knowledge in technology that I have zero experience with.
Rather than try to find another software position, I would rather immerse myself in trading.
I am a technical guy with a BS in electrical engineering and 7 years experience as a software engineer.
Searching on Indeed, led me to some jobs in Chicago that interest me. I still would like to hear any job recommendations/comments(good and bad)/advice, etc.
