Hey Guys

I have downloaded a years worth of data in 5 minute bars for the ES through Interactive Brokers/Excel DDE. I would like to get a visual look at each day's worth of data. Excel has stock charts (bars and candlesticks) available. But is there a way to get excel to automatically create these charts for me without my having to do it one by one?

It is highly probably possible, programming the VBA capabilities of Excel. It's all I can say because it would require time for study the problem and route a solution.

Just do it once manually and record the steps with the built-in recorder:

Great idea if the process is enough easy.

I assumed it's not the case, hopefully wrongly.

If you want to record your steps in the data sheet be aware of "relative" and "absolute cell references".
In your case with NEW data coming that means you need a Recording with "relative cell references".
Only with this setting the new data is taken and produces a new chart.

Hints here: Excel 2013: Relative and Absolute Cell References

But if you know Excel and recording then you might know it anyway...

If you are using the data on one sheet where new data is incrementally getting in you
can use in your Macro the entry point to start with "goto last cell" and do the wanted
selection "backwards".
This helps to automate your selections and you do not have to select it manually every time.
With that function you are able to use only the "new data" or the new data with the old data
in total or in parts.

Just my 2 cents

Certainly possible to chart based on a date range with some VBA but I would just install ninja, import the data and be done with it. It would be a good project if you want to learn VBA but if you don't, I don't see the point of turning things into a project.

Hi if there are any excel wizards out there?
Will someone have a look and see if they can modify this existing file to have the capability to handle multiple accounts?
Like for example: five different accounts.
As it is now it just has one.
If is too time/labor intense I understand, just taking a chance that maybe someone that uses excel a lot can do?
Any comments welcome
Thanks in advance
