Hi Folks

I wonder if somebody might be able to help me. I have just got TradeStation and am trying to learn it. So far, it has been really easy to learn. But I have a little problem with a Strategy which I was developing (and was working only on the Buy side). It was making a large loss - so I tried to reverse it and for some reason it wouldn't go short. Having whittled down the code to this

Sell ( "B" ) next bar at market ;

which doesn't work but

Buy ( "B" ) next bar at market ;

does.

It doesn't seem to be a problem with having an open position left over from a previous strategy, I have tried it with different futures and applied the sell strategy first and then the buy with the same effect. Naturally I have logged out and logged in. I have coded up other strategies that worked going short using this command (although they seemed to have stopped now working and will only go long).

I am sure that it is something silly - but I have wasted half a day on this now (or to be more precise half a night). Does anybody have any ideas?

Cheers

DaddyofTwo,

the reason likely is that "Sell" is used for closing a long position, where "SellShort" is used to enter a short position in Tradestation.

Oh!! Many thanks I'll try it out when I next go to the office. (In fairness to me - I would have thought then they should have used BuyLong rather than "Buy")

Many thanks for your prompt reply
