No more replies from me on this thread. The guy probably already blew up his account anyway.

I still think, no matter how deep his pockets are, funding the account with more than $1000 out of the gate is just asking for trouble. He needs to learn limits, self imposing them may be a good self control measure. If he keeps a small account for long term it will keep him from getting greedy or drunk on success in the future. If he can have a trading account and reserves account, he can shift anything he gains, at least 50% of the day to reserves in the future instead of letting his account grow and
scale his
contract to such a degree where he looses control.

After reading these texts I think I'm going to look more at swing trading. Where can I learn about swing trading the spy I was unaware of that.

Unless one has a thoroughly-tested and consistently-profitable trading plan, he will also learn bad habits trading real money in a real account in real time -- just a different set: revenge trading , overtrading, impulse trading, etc.
With enough inside information and a million dollars, you can go broke in a year.

you are at the right place...go to the search box in the upper right hand corner and type "swing trading."

I'll stop cuddling him. Then tell him a number. Several numbers. And $30k is not close to realistic out of the gate.
$50k to trade futures.
But this amount isn't the main issue. Futures are far to much leverage to begin learning anything about trading or the markets.
$1000 in futures is like putting a quarter of a gallon of gas into the tank of a Ferrari and handing the keys to a 16 yr old without his license. He probably won't go far and might die.
