hi,
here a short How-To "import a chart-template" in NinjaTrader cause the question often rises again :

Tip

Importing a template is not really an "import-fuktion" like importing indicators!

You just have to copy the template you have in the folder : Templates / Charts -- and the trick is done !

i often had + heard about problems after downloading a template :
Ninja does not "see it" when copying it in the templatefolder.

one reason can be :
while downloading the file was stored as holy.DOWNLOAD file instead of the holy.xml - format-file.

just check + change the ending after downloading : it MUST be a .xml - file !

for changing this you can easy edit the .ending it in the windows-explorer - no problem,

i am not shure why this happens - some say its because of downloading it with googles chrome ...... maybe anyone can add some infos here!

in hope that will help someone

..

Sir

I apologise for my lack of understanding about "importing" templates, but could you please tell me where in the NT 6.5 folder I must place the template files or do I have to copy and paste the script into another file and then load it onto a chart?
Your assistance would be gratefully received.

Respectfully

Ken Logan

Although I show NT7 it should be the same for 6.5

Make sure the name ends with .xml, as Max says above*. Downloading with different browsers or even Skype can change the extension on the end of a file.

hi ken!

go to :

my Documents > NinjaTrader 6,5 > templates > chart - and copy your file into the chart-folder.

that makes your template available for charts via "Templates - load" menu.

hope this works - let us know !

Hi max-td

Thank you very much for your assistance. I have now found the files(I must have "tidied" them at some point) and successfully placed the templates in the correct place and loaded them onto a chart.

Regards

Ken Logan

Do you have to have all the indicators already downloaded prior to transfering templates? Sorry for my ignorance but I know that in some software the indicators have to be present in order for the template to work correctly. Or in NT do the indicators transfer with the xml file themselves?

thankyou,

HT

no, they are not.

So if the indicators do not transfer with a template....should not there be a way to know exactly what indictors someone has on a template? And a follow up question do NT 6.5 templates transfer to NT 7?

thank you,

HT

Hee hee writing on my own quote. I am just asking should there not be a pic of the chart or of the indicators to go along with a template. If someone says here is a template....one really does not know indicators are on that chart...do they?

thanks,

HT
