Hi all,

I'm not a complete beginner to the coding of trading software, however I've found it difficult to locate information for SC.

Firstly, I haven't been able to find a good starting point or tutorial anywhere

Secondly, I haven't been able to find a comprehensive list of functions. Ie. I want to import and plot rectangles on the chart according to the data in a text file, or if that proves too complex, then just via input (although ideally both enabled) - how would I find the function and parameters I need without trawling the sierrachart ACSIL online menu system hoping to just stumble into the right menu to get the function I need?

I can only assume this has been asked a thousand times before, and if so I apologise, but I haven't been able to find anything on bm's that points me in the right direction.

Please help?!

Cheers,

Scott

SC comes with masses of source code, both for their own built-in indicators and indicators contributed by other users.

Your best bet is to find an indicator that does some of the functionality you want to replicate, look for the source code for the indicator, and work through it line by line.

That's how I learned to write ACSIL.

Go to the ACS_Source folder within your Sierra Chart folder. You will find there the files Studies1-7. Those files hold the source code for lots of indicators.

Also, the 2 following links document most of the stuff you need for coding with ACSIL.
ACSIL Interface Members - Introduction - Sierra Chart
Using Drawing Tools from an Advanced Custom Study - Sierra Chart

Remember that ACSIL is based on C++.
