Please forgive me for asking a dumb question. Is there anyway to view the volume indicator for indices like SPX in TOS? By default it hides the volume because they are all zeros, but some other trading software like Active Trader Pro of fidelity or yahoo finance webpage has volumes for those indices as well.

I searched around but didn't find any answer, thanks...

monkeyfruit82 , since you can't directly trade the SPX (it's merely an index), there's no "volume" to it. I'm guessing what you see on those other platforms is volume of a proxy, like SPY for SPX, etc. Volume indicators for Equities, futures, etc., can be loaded by (along top of chart window) hitting STYLE-->SETTINGS, then go through the tabs to set volumes for what you want.
Alternatively, if you really prefer to watch SPX but want a lower study showing volume of SPY, you could write such a study and load it. BTW, I don't think anything here is a dumb question- I ask them all the time

Hi, Thank you so much for the detailed suggestion. I just talked to the customer service of TDA and they said their data provider no longer provides the volume data for indices for the minute chart. They do have the vol for daily chart though. As far as I learned these days the exchanges somehow calculate the "composite" volume for a few indices and each data provider may choose to subscribe it or not. But I have somehow no way to confirm this fact. Or perhaps as you indicated each data provider may have its own way to use maybe a proxy for the trading volume, though I doubt so as no every index has a good proxy like SPX/SPY...
