Okay I've gotten nowhere. I have tried all the suggestions I have cleared cmos, reset bios and all three jumper settings. I have removed the battery and replaced it with a second new battery. the battery pack was a two pack. I have removed everything that's not necessary including USB port connection and IEEE connections. I have also removed the sound card and all case fans connections looking for a possible short. the only thing I haven't done yet is remove the motherboard from the case. I am quickly running out of options and time if I want to get something overnight it to me tomorrow. If I need to buy a new motherboard and or processor Please post your opinions on what brand I should buy. I will only buy Intel processors. Other than that I am open to suggestions on motherboards. I currently have Corsair Dominator dd3 memory. CMD4GX3M2A1600C8 8 gigs total. Core 2Quad Q9550 intel proc. Let me know your opinions....
Core 2 Quad is a really old system. I would advise taking a moment and build a proper new system (not in a rush) that will last you several years. You should be building a Skylake system with USB Type-C 3.1 and DDR4 in my opinion.
With all honesty, those batteries usually work for 8-10 years. I have a couple of very old machines assigned for the accounting dept in the office LOLZ
Those machines are 8 year old and no one certainly have changed batteries there
Re new upgrade, I would think twice about new Intel i7 which is i7-6770K. It isn't that faster than i7-4790K, just mere 3-7% depends on application. The same for DDR4 vs DDR3, even more conservative. But due to the failed (or "paper" if you want) launch of the latest i7 by Intel (what make me thinking they might be trying to replicate Apple's success in that), those CPUs are very expensive now. The price difference doesn't match the difference in performance. Anyway, finally it is your decision what to buy for an upgrade.
Good point! I'm looking at 4790k MB's now. Checking out z97 and z99 mb's at the moment. Still open for suggestions if any one wants to chime in....
Thanks!
