Hi All,

Here's a quick question and a favor for the community to chip in with their answers and suggestions.

I currently work a full-time job. However, I do have the opportunity to trade from around 8:30 EST in the morning until about 10:00 EST. The best way for me to achieve this is to trade from my laptop while in the office in a corner somewhere

Anyway, I want to know if anyone knows who would be able to provide me with the best possible solution as far as an Internet connection is concerned? Oh and does anyone have any clue as to how much data one would use if they were running, say a Crude chart (500 Tick) for roughly an hour or so each morning?

I live in the D.C. area right now.

Thank You in advance,
--Tom

If you have a smart phone, learn how to use it as your modem.
Or, buy a 4g hot spot.
Not sure how much data you would use, but an hour and a half a day wouldn't put you past any reasonable monthly limit IMO.

Another option is a cheap to get USB modem stick.
This makes you independent if you get away with your phone from the computer.
With the stick you can get internet nearly in every country.

One of the things you can do to monitor your data is to logon to your router and look at the stats
most of the routers have a kind of a counter or allow you to measure specific clients

I think a day of real time feed uses something roughly like +/- 1 GB

The usage will depend on
- # instruments
- length of historical data you are pulling when starting
- duration
- market volatility

For 1 hour you should be +/- 200mb my guess
