Hi all,

Has anyone succeeded in connecting CQG to a spread sheet (i.e. Excel, Calc, Numbers or other)?

Apparently CQG and Excel both support RTD for connectivity. Has anyone succeeded in using the RTD feature? Does RTD work across machines (i.e. CQG on Windows to/from Excel on Mac)? Does the RTD feature work bi-directionally in real-time? Any thoughts or experiences would be appreciated!

Alternatively, has anyone succeeded in moving data between any trading platform and any spreadsheet?

Thanks!

I have used CQG RTD. It is an incredible value. Unfortunately, it was lacking some important historical data that I needed for modeling options. On a positive note, one of the tech support people offered to build me a VBA macro to fix some problems. They have great people. Additionally, you already have some pre-built RTD spreadsheets at CQG.com.

Understand that RTD will not work across machines. It makes use of your existing installation of CQG. Thus, RTD will not work if you are not logged into the CQG client. That's all RTD implementations regardless of vendor/product.

I don't know what you mean by bi-directional. If you mean order management functions, I don't think it has that. It is just data. Possibly with some technical indicators that were calculated on the server side.

The excel reporting is the most diverse and professional that I have ever seen. But, I am a retail trader and most brokers will provide this export functionality via a broker web portal.

I believe that amongst the CQG platforms, Q Trader has the ability to have RTD along side your platform.
I think that CQG Trader has this ability as well with a $25 add on.

Hi London Trader

I second what xandman says: RTD offers lots of functionality. If there is anything specific you need to achieve let me know and I'll see if I can help.
