We don't need any more indicators. Attached is a chart for the groups
discussion.
It is how I have started using the BetterVolume Paint Bar (HVC)to confirm my directional changes.
I did not intentionally use an old chart, I was just not paying attention to the time/date.
Any more traders out there willing to show us how you use volume in your trading???
Thanks gary, I will study them and get back to you. I see LVPB & HVC on your chart and they're at the right places. It looks good to me.
The next volume pattern I want to cover is "Low Volume Test" (LVT). LVT & LVPB are the two main ways I use low volume. After that I want to talk about HVC.
Remember if you're trading with the trend and you find yourself in a LVT or LVPB that's a warning of a potential change in trend and you could consider tighting a stop to protect profits.
If you're counter trend trading and you see LVT or LVPB, it's a warning of a potential trend change which for counter-trend would give you an entry.
They're not failproof as everyone should see in the examples, so you just don't exit on those alone but use it in conjunction with your other rules.
But before we get to LVT, I'd like to see some people post a chart and mark up the LVPB with or without an indicator. I want to be sure everyone is getting it before we continue.
I promise you all, once you learn to read the volume it will change your trading and you won't want to trade without volume again!
Haha! I didn't know any of this until 6 months ago! It's not difficult and everyone can learn it. Doesn't mean you'll be profitable with it, that requires hard work.
Great example of HVC. Remember HVC means a transfer of shares, not just a transfer but a large transfer. Usually it's the smart money transferring shares with the amateurs. It doesn't always mark a turning point though, sometimes it's just profit taking and not enough to stop the move so the move continues up. I see that a few times in your chart. I Like to see a break of the high/low of the HVC bar(s) as an additional confirmation, and if price continues in the same direction from which it came, I like to see good volume. Sometimes you get HVC and then a LV Top or Test afterwards.
But we'll get to all that, I just mention it cause you're going quicker than the others.
Come on guys, post charts! That's your ticket for the next pattern.
First off thanks to both Cunparis for this thread and Garry for his Price Action thread. I have spent the last day or two looking over the information they have shared and it is very much appreciated!!
I have only been trading for only a little over 6 months now in sim and cash. But from what I have read so far, based primarily on the information provided by Big Mike's forum thank you Mike, Volume and Price Action are the only Real-Time Indicators and they will always tell you what the market is doing if you know haw to read them!
First I have attached a chart based off Garry's last posted chart to compare the original Better Volume indicator to RJay's BetterVolumeNTv2.
The second is a ZB chart that I have marked for the LVPB exercise that Cunparis had. ZB was very slow last week!
