Hey everyone,

I recently started trading and didn't find a platform yet that allows me to get real-time and reliable data for free.
I would be happy to to get your help with recommendation for websites or mobile application for relevant market information and tools for analysis.
Which are considered the most reliable and updated?

Thanks

Hi Daniel

It depends on what you mean 'for free'.

Certain brokers offer a real-time data feed at no cost but you have to open an account with them.

With the exception of demo accounts - which have a limited lifetime - I have yet to come across brokers who provide unlimited real-time data feeds for free if you don't open an account with them.

But I may be wrong. Happy for others to chip in and add their 2c.

Hi,

thanks for the quick response. For free I mean out of charge and in the best case without an account needed. Somebody recommended me Investing.com, Forex Factory or Dailyfx, but i am not sure hoe reliable and updated the data is. Do you know the pages and have any experience with them?

I assumed (my bad) that we were talking about real-time data feeds for futures products but seeing that you quote investing.com and two FX sites let me take a step back and ask: what financial instruments are you interested in?

I am looking for site that is providing reliable, real-time and always updated market data such as financial markets coverage, general news, live charts and maybe economic calendar etc. for free. Do you have any experience with investing.com in this regard? Or do you know other websites which suit? Thanks!!

Okay,
  • for a general purpose website I think Bloomberg.com is probably a good start. It has most of the stuff you look for in there
  • I've had a quick look at investing.com. I don't use it personally but it doesn't look bad
  • Google Finance also is another good source of information for free. It provides 'real-time' charts for several products

I put 'real-time' in quotes, though, because it may mean different things to different people.
  • If you are looking for data that is updated every few seconds, Google Finance should do
  • If, however, you are looking for the most precise type of data (e.g. tick-data) then my initial post on the subject still stands

Hope this helps.
