I see a lot of folks are pet lovers on the Big Mike Trading Forum. I have a quick question about Dog medical Insurance in USA. Is it worth having insurance and if yes, who would you recommend?

I have a two year old mixed breed Milli (King Charles cavalier and Boxer- we think). She is healthy but some recent experiences of my friends and their pets has me thinking seriously about pet insurance.

Thanks,
Vroomy

Personally, I do not think it's worth it. Just pick up a copy of a few policies and read the fine print, most problems that are common in dogs, are not covered (I have read about 6-7 different policies and they all seem to be the same.

They also don't cover alot of accidents and medications for chronic diseases.

Anyways, ask your vet for a couple policies and read the fine print. Then figure out how much you will be paying everymonth and add it all up. It will be clear if it's worth it or not.

For me, I just add the money I would spend on the insurance into my current savings account and "self-insure" for any emergencies

Good Luck !

P.S. You puppy is very cute

Thanks for your comments. I also did some math and I agree...the best way seems to 'self-insure' by keeping the money in a separate account.

And yes...Milli is very cute. My wife says that I have fallen in love again

Very interesting...Thanks for sharing. Maybe, we need to make a trip up north next summer for this.

Well, since I'm from Vancouver, there is NO way I could endorse anything in Toronto.... LOL j/k

I've heard of Woofstock, and I've heard it's great.

But, a day walking around the seawall in Stanley Park and the a visit to the dog park in Ambelside would beat it, I think
