Has anyone had any solution to using SC on-the-go?

I'm an old user of SC but never looked to use it on a smartphone or tablet to manage positions, until now. And I haven't been able to find any solution.

Anyone else have any suggestions?

Thanks

I haven't tried these (I use a laptop for mobile computing), but it would depend on your situation:

1) Install SC on a VPS (like Sam rents at Speedy Trading Servers - no affiliation), then just pick a tablet that you like with Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) capability and connect to the VPS. Any newer iPad or Surface Pro will work for this and I believe a lot of Android tablets might.

2) If you or someone you know is a networking person, have them setup a VPN on your home router and RDP into your home PC. Same as 1, then an iPad or Surface will be more than adequate.

In both cases, if your smart phone has wifi hotspot capability, you could control the server/PC from anywhere you have data coverage. Tablet -> wifi to phone -> data connection to host machine.

You CAN also use a smartphone to do the RDP work, but the screens are too small for my old eyes.

Hope these suggestions help (or someone responds with better ones)!

We can provide SC with CQG quotes.
You can then take your CQG credentials and use it on CQG Mobile, MarketDelta Cloud, or anything other platform that is mobile and uses CQG.
All these platforms are free, and you can alternate between SC and your mobile as you wish.

Thank you,

@karentrader, there are plenty of lightweight, portable Windows computers that are more than capable of running SC. The biggest issue is transporting the data from/to your PC.

I picked up an original Surface Pro 1 (NOT RT) with a bunch of goodies for less than $200 on Craigslist and it does just fine. The screen is a bit small (10.1") but comparable to an iPad/Android tablet, a little thicker and heavier.

Currently I just transfer my entire SC file over to a USB memory stick from my PC, and put it on the Surface. A bit kludgy, my SC folder is large, but works fine.

Also, I believe SC recently implemented a file sharing option... look under the main File tab, it's at the very bottom, it might work??

Teamviewer on your trading PC, and your tablet, is what I recommend for a free and powerful solution. You will likely not have matching screen resolutions, so you may want to create a template that looks good when you set your tablet’s window resolution to its native setting. For example, my PC uses 1920 x 1080, but my iPad 2 is 1280 x 960. Your default screen will be shrunk to fit, making it hard to interact with. Make a chartbook that fits the iPad, or put the important stuff that will not get chopped off the screen in the upper left corner. The easiest way to do this is to create a new chartbook with a new chart maximized. That chart can be used as a template for other chart book layouts.

One thing that may take some getting used to is the touch interaction, which is different than the mouse option, some things work better with the mouse option, but the mouse doesn’t move by itself, so you may get slowed down.

The good news is you can get a decent touch enabled Sierra Chart with on screen trading buttons.
