Hello

Another amateur interogation for me

Using Multicharts. If I place a stop order, Will the stop info reside in my computer or will it be place at my broker server?

This as a big impact on how to handle my system. If it reside in my PC then I need to make sure that power will be on and Internet access always active. Also Internet to be re-initialte after a net failure.

Is it possible to determine where it will be place, on broker server or stay in my pc.

Martin

Depends on your broker. Who are you trading through?

The thread below discusses this issue with NT, same applies to MC

Hello Snoop

Thanks for the link.

No new account yet as I'm undecided. My last broker Sonray Capital, went on bankrupt Last June. I decided to take this interval as a learning time for Multicharts. Broker selection is a whole new subject.

Martin

Hi Martin,

So I bet broker selection is important to you!

I use IB (they have an office in Mtl) as my main account. Good overall broker (and server side OCO) plus you get the same investor protection as any other Cdn investment dealer. Some people have issues with them, but I have not seen any (while I have had problems with my 3 others brokers). I think it depends on where you're located, and you're in a good spot. IB's execution server is out of Greenwich, CT and they have a data centre in Montreal (plus Chicago, Zug (Switzerland), Hong Kong as I understand). So you shouldn't suffer much latency.

Jimmy

I have been using IB with Ninja for the past 15 months and found them very good.

I am in the process of switching to MultiCharts - downloading (tick) data is taking an eternity with IB.

I haven't traded live with IB with MulitCharts yet...

I am testing now MultiCharts with Rithmic, I have download the data pretty fast.
How long is your tick data go back?

Hi Martin, Rithmic is one of the data providers for MultiCharts.
Essentially, you would be able to trade it directly from MC but I see that you are a orex trader, and I assumed (mistakably) that you are downloading ES (emini s&p) Futures. My answer would have been suitable if you traded futures, so maybe it would be helpful to you in the future.
