I'm curious how many of you trade based on 1 chart, vs 2 charts, 3 charts, etc. Vote for which one fits your answer. This includes if you look at a different instrument or $TICK for instance, not just different time frames.

Specifically, I am asking how many total charts you have open that influence your decision when you enter a trade.

Personally, I use 3 charts (big [trend], medium [reversals], small [entries]).

Mike

Hi Mike,

My small screen to assist in trade entry updates every second.

I also monitor different size trader's delta volumes in the same chart.

I would use on different frames:

Short Med Long
1min 5min 30min (Zoomlevel on 1min and 5min)

55ticks 144ticks 233ticks

4 range 8 range 30 min

And i would use multiple moving averages on all frames the minimum are two.

On short and medium frame i like JMA 1 - 200 and on long term ema 1 -55.

I do not understand volume based thinks, perhaps someone can tell me. it would help for understanding / knowledge.

With a volume chart, a new bar is formed after XX number of contracts.

Whereas, with a tick chart, a new bar is formed after XX number of trades.

One trade can be 1 contract or 1000 contracts.

So, for instance, if you had one trade go off executing 1000 contracts, it counts as only 1 tick on your tick chart. It counts as 1000 on a volume chart.

wh,

On my charts, when the price jumps, I check to see who's moving it.

Large traders sometimes signal which way the market is moving a few seconds before it happens.

I use volume indicators for support of trades. I would not take trades based on just on just volume.
