sorry that I did not provide all the details. This indicator essentially helps to identify price swings. I came across this below article when I was doing some research.

this is painting a bar to indicate directional change when bar clears the range of some prior bar. A tremendous amount of work exists in this area and related areas. When none of this bar's price points intersect with any price points in a prior bar that new bar is said to be "clear". If the low of the current bar is above the range of some previous bar that is "upward" and vice versa for "downward".

I use a device in a bar counting metric that looks for "if the close of this bar is higher/lower than the close 4 bars ago. Also, you could check out TD Flip or TD MA by Thomas DeMark.
