Im not exactly sure why SidewalkAerobics, perhaps it was because ES was used as a hedging tool. Perhaps it filled this niche in the market. Would be good to hear from someone who knows for sure

I would suspect it is the rise of electronic and algorithmic trading along with decimalization.
Those years just had enormous jumps in overall computing power for the world.
