intermediate trader

hi everyone. just introducing myself. I mostly like to trade the mini Russell with not much luck yet, just a lot of trial and errors lol. Anyway just thought id say howdy and was interested in the ny tick lately on trying to use it for short term trades and seen someone post about a 10-13 MA. not real sure how to set that up. oh and dose anyone use the dow tick at all for exit/ entries. That's mainly what ive been using for paper tradin for now until I get something solid again. Thanks
