Currently, I want to add a down arrow after a condition. I want to avoid having multiple down arrows in a row, and I want use a variable to store whether the last arrow was up or down, but I don't know how I can change this variable and refer to it later on.

This should help get you started. Pots a down arrow on the most recent of either of two different condition and displays in a label which of the two conditions that is.
