always been a fan of OBS personally, but i do a bit of broadcasting , which it is more commonly used for.

Where are you uploading the video to?

If you are attaching it, it does tell you the containers that are accepted.

MP4 and FLV are the two main options for video if you are using attachments directly.

MP4 is the superior standard in terms of quality and featureset, but needs more configuration to make small files.

Hi KJB

thanks for the reply, apologies for the delayed reply,
i'm attaching it here, (use the paper clip icon), unsure where you see the containers, can you please provide a screen shot, i don't see a choice to save the files in MP4 FLV with this software, which seems weird given the popular use of these file types,,

regards Angelo

I use SnagIt. I see it costs $50 now. I think I paid $29 a few years ago. I've been using it for years.

It can easily capture video as well as screen shots. You can edit the screen shots with arrows, text, circles etc.

It saves video as MP4 and images as pretty much anything.

I use PicPick https://picpick.app/en/ for screen captures and edits or drawing. It works great for each.

It is free. What I like about it:

1. It could record at 60 frames per second. Really good at capturing those fast moving Time & Sales.
2. It can be set up to run at specific times of the day. Really good for me when I couldn't wake up at 6:30 am (PST) and start recording my charts while I am asleep.
3. It has a batch video converter. Really good into converting to other video types.
4. You may do markers at any point in the video. Really good when I want to remember certain spots on the video.
5. The EXPRESS version is free. That is the one I am using right now.

I also bought Pinnacle Live Screen Capture.

I prefer to use Flashback Express.

I use Camtasia Studio for video capture of charts. It has terrific editing capabilities but isn't free (sometimes, if you say you're renewing, they'll let you get it for the upgrade price. But I don't know if they'll always do that.). I use PicPick for a static screen capture.
