Does Sierra chart's DOM have a mode where you can trade directly from it and see the PnL within the actual DOM area itself (maybe at the bottom or something) or does it require having a whole separate trading panel attached to the side?

I assume you can do the usual trading from the DOM things like clicking to place limit orders and cancelling orders and such.

Sierra has it's own independent DOM that can track your trades and P&L.
You do not an additional DOM to operate it. In fact, I always advise customers to try and keep it to one platform because at times you need to run two software and data feed that may slow your execution and just burden your computer processor.

However, whatever API you use, find out what platform could use in case Sierra malfunctions.
For example, Sierra over Rithmic has r Trader, CQG has it's Desktop, etc.

I hope this helps.
