Hi,
trading ES on a broker such as Interactive brokers, I want to avoid holding a position initiated during the day into overnight to avoid the different margin requirements for overnight these brokers have.

So at what time (EASTERN) should I exit a position started in the day so I will not be considered to carry the position overnight?

You have to ask your broker, some allow you to trade till 3:15 pm CT, others till 4 pm CT
