Need help creating a custom indicator for NT where the candlesticks get WIDER as volume goes up during the period in real-time. I.e., low volume = skinny candle, high volume = fat candle, medium volume = somewhere in-between. This is not to indicate there are only 3 candle sizes -- the more volume, the larger the candle, so there will be a range of sizes between 5-100 pixels, relative to the amount of volume during that period (minute, 5 minutes, etc.).

The point is to be able to tell what volume is doing by looking at the candles and not have to reference a separate volume indicator on the bottom of the chart. Already have it done in PhotonTrader platform (on FuturePath). Looking to recreate in NT.

Any programmers interested in this project, please send me a quote via PM.

Thx!

No reason to do this it has been done.
There is an indicator in the downloads section for FatTail Candle Volume

Search there and you can download it.
It is not the only one out there but one of the ones you can choose.

Just realized I posted this in the wrong forum. Should probably be in https://nexusfi.com/hire-consultant-programmer. I can't figure out how to delete or move the post. Sorry, BM. Please feel free to delete and I'll re-post in the correct forum.

Thanks, David. You just saved me a lot of time, effort, and cash. I didn't know this was such a popular request. The thread helped. BM recommended:

The first search result was CandleVolStyle.cs posted by Cory. (Thanks, Mike and Cory.)

That seems to be exactly what I'm looking for. Appreciate the quick reply.

What is your experience with volume bars, the "ordinary" and the CandlestickVol? It seems, they deliver a bit more information about the price action?

no extra information about price action based on CandkeVol, they just look pretty, the old saying low vol (thinner bar) = weak trend is no longer true

Hi Cory,

I downloaded your CandleVolStyle.cs from the Jan 21, 2015 post on the Attachments, and installed into NT7, but it looks like the top half of the image at Gyazo - da465561ac3eb3d74fd8d169e9b2a406.png. Too much spacing between sticks.

How do I get it to look more like the bottom half of that image (taken from PhotonTrader)? Or at least more like the image you posted at .

Are there settings that I missed?

Thanks,
Dan
