Hi All

Problem:
I am backtesting with SC using Flex-Renko bars. This gives late execution.
Seems to be consistent 2 bars late with resultant less than expected results.

Set-up
Am using the Trading System based on Alert Condition Study with Evaluate on Bar Close Only set to Yes
Seems to make no difference if Alert tab Evaluate on bar close is checked or unchecked

Question:
Does anyone know a work around? Goal is to have auto trade without delay.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts

Actually, I think the thread "Late trad automated entry..." of July 28 has answered my question.

Apologies for the inconvenience, I am new to NexusFi.

Hi Harejo

Since this post, I have moved onto using Spreadsheet Studies, so I cannot make any comment.

I can however say that the Spreadsheet gives far more flexablity… if you have not yet tried using I suggest you invest the time.

Let me know how you go

Im playing around with these at the moment.

How reliable are the backtest results would you say? I've put a few strats together and they show promise but not sure how much I can trust the numbers.

in my experience, there are two points to be aware of
1) use the Accurate Trading System Mode rather than Standard Mode,
and
2) beware what bid / ask spread is being assumed / used in the backtest. SC applies tight spreads which may not mirror what your broker applies eg if you trade CFD's the spread may be wider than if you trade on-exchange. You can modify the spread SC uses, but I can't recall how. SC Help will be able to advise how.

if both above are OK, I think the backtest results are quite reliable.

hope this helps, let me know how you go

That's good to hear.

Been back testing using the accurate back testing mode so okay there.

Using market orders for entries. Not sure how accurate slippage will be but I'm not scalping so shouldn't effect me too much if it's off a few ticks. Although I'm new to automation/back testing so may eat my own words on that.

We'll see.

Thanks for the help.
