How do I have my indicator look only at a certain amount of candles?

I've set it max bars 256 vs. infinite, yet it calculates on every bar.

Indicators will always calculate for the entire chart. If your indicator takes too long to load it is either badly coded, or you have activated tick replay.

The MaximumBarsLookBack setting is only applied to internal DataSeries for which there is no individual MaximumBarsLookBack setting.

I agree with post #2.

If the number of bars / days loaded by the chart are not very high then it is likely your indicator is not coded correctly.

You can check the performance of indicators by loading an Output screen, then right click and select Ninja Script Monitor. If your indicator is high ranking then you need to check the coding.
