I was reading Dr.Steenbarger's article on 'Trading as Mental Warefare' www.brettsteenbarger.com/Trading as Mental Warfare.doc . This article is very interesting. It goes into Col Boyd's presentation....also available at www.dnipogo.org/boyd/patterns.ppt .

The article goes into Sun Tzu's Art of War and there are parallel's to Trading too. It also mentions OODA loop((for observe, orient, decide, and act) en.wikipedia.org/[AUTOLINK]wiki[/AUTOLINK]/OODA_ loop . I was first introduced to this techniqies by a friend who was taught about it in MBA class. It has been on back of my mind ever since.

I was looking into different techniques to integrate and process information ( a way to think that is more effective to the unique fast paced environment like trading). The other one I am looking into is to organize information using Mind Maps Mind map - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia . A trading plan that is in a fluid state as a mind map may be more suitable for trading ( just a thought ...need more experience before I state it as a fact).

But these 2 techniques seem promising. I do not know how to act upon OODA loop ( any practical books etc) . However I did buy books on Mind mapping. Did anyone get a chance to look into these techniques ( or similar approaches). Please share your thoughts and experiences.

Sam

Hello Tradersam,

I have just come across the idea of OODA loop for Trading myself and wanted to see how to apply it for trading. Since you started looking into this many years back, I wonder what did you find and were you able to create OODA loop exercises for training yourself to trade.

Thanks
