Bonjour!

As a small group of you are aware, my wife and I have relocated from Calgary to Montreal.

The whole Covid-19 pandemic has put a lot of strain on corporations from large to small. SAP have been affected in the same way as every body else and they have been making changes to suit.

As part of the executive board reshuffle, my wife was relocated to Montreal. So, this means that the lowest bread winner (i.e. me) doesn't really have a say! Therefore, the Graeme's are now officially Montrealian's!

I followed my wife out this weekend and joined her and my daughter. I will miss Calgary dearly but I don't mind taking on a new adventure...even if I now have to reignite my French speaking...which as I have brutally found out this weekend, needs a lot of work!

As you can see from the picture...I am surrounded by boxes as I write this which I have to deal with shortly but let's get on with the reason for my post...

I had (still have I guess) a really good connection of people and other traders in Calgary. Moving to a brand new city, my network is back to zero. When this pandemic passes (which is probably months...maybe even longer) I would like to reach out to other traders in the Montreal area, just for no other reason than to get together.

We are really trying to keep our circle as tight as possible (as best we can) so I don't see meeting up with anybody for months but I thought why not see who is out there now.

If it helps, we have moved to the area of Westmount.

Bye for now!

At least, I assure you, you will not miss the terrible weather of Calgary down in Montreal!

I am not sure about the deep winter here yet, but the snow removal budget is like that of a small country! I am certainly looking forward to the summer though. I have heard some great things. Weather is very similar to Calgary right now, but I am sure I'll have some snow shovelling to do really soon! Wet snow vs. dry snow...urgh.

Bonjour!
...

Allo (hello!),

You know i live in Quebec city, just 2.5 hours by car from Montreal. But my wife has family members there so we go there every now and then. I would be please to meet you if it ever is a possibility. I'd be happy to speak to you in French and hear English from you ;-).

You'd be the first famous Futures.io member i would meet in person as most are from the USA.

Welcome to Quebec

P.S. we got our first snowfall warning tonight: Snowfall with total amounts of 15 to 20 cm is expected.

Sounds great! And then ah...yes....this pings through. Oh geez!

The lessons learned so far. 1. Don't relocate during a pandemic 2. When you wife says "...you know where the snow shovels are right?..." don't just say yes unless you have actually know where they are...

Welcome to Montreal. We refer to ourselves as Montrealers but ex-Calgarians get a break. You don't really need any French in Westmount as it's a fairly anglophone area. Tonight's "snowstorm" is just a dusting. Besides, it will all melt tomorrow, but get your sea legs ready for the freezing rain. If you need any help or tips about the city, I'm happy to help.

I will be moving to Montreal, hopefully in April, from Vancouver. Was supposed to move in April 2020, but got derailed with covid and all, and in an effort to skip harsh winters, decided to park it out here until the spring.

Not sure exactly where I'll be living, most likely NDG or LaSalle based on what I'm looking for. Won't know a soul in town, it'll be great to meet up with some traders once there and you know, balancing what's appropriate at the time.

Looking forward to it, love Montreal every time I've visited and after being in a holding pattern for a year I'm more than ready.

My condolences to you and family. Out of the fat into the fire. When I was young my Dad told me stories of snowmobiles getting stuck in 6 feet of snow (in Montreal). I didn't think it possible till I did the same thing one day in much less snow (two/three feet of fluffy stuff).

I know right! Thanks...I think! Sorry we haven't caught up in a while over email. Life has been pretty hectic recently as you can probably imagine.

I was watching a show with my daughter about the snow clearing in the city. I had to double take when they said the budget was $160 million +...

On the plus side during the winter you have easy access to Mont Tremblant where kids three feet high with no ski poles (cuz they don't need em) wearing garbage bags to guard against the wet fly past you on double black diamond mogul runs. First time they blew past me I thought i was in a Harry Potter movie. The second time i almost quit skiing. These kids were so good.

Also check out Northern Vermont (Stowe & Smugglers Notch) for ski hills. One of the Northern Vermont hills serves chilli in a shack at the top.

In the summer put your shades on and find a patio, a pitcher of Sangria and a poutine near St Catherine street. The female landscape is everything you dreamed of and more.

At night there are a multitude of places (especially in old Montreal) to tickle your palate.

You will love it.
