Hi,

Was wondering if someone knew the difference between these two W. D. Gann's books with similar title:

How to Make Profits in Commodities vs How to Make Profits Trading in Commodities

Link to Amazon for the former here: https://www.amazon.com/How-Make-Profits-Commodities-Gann/dp/9659124147

Link to Amazon for the latter here: https://www.amazon.com/How-Make-Profits-Trading-Commodities-ebook/dp/B01E81K84Y

I wanted to read the book based on Linda Raschke's recommendation (https://lindaraschke.net/resources/) but not sure which would be the best version to get. I've searched online but can't find a clear differentiation between the two.

Hoping someone here can shed some light. Thanks!

Linda and I are friends, but probably either book would be just as useful, considering Alexander Elder interviewed Gann's son, who stated that his dad never made money actually trading, but rather made money selling his Gann technique...

Talking about Gann, I've heard the same thing about him being more of a salesman than a trader. Especially the secret message supposedly hidden in "The tunnel thru the air" appears like an attempt for creating a mysterious air around his persona, for boosting his sales numbers. Although I have to say I haven't read that book, so maybe there really is a secret in it?!

I have his "How to make Profits Trading in Commodities", but this https://www.amazon.de/How-Make-Profits-Trading-Commodities/dp/1578988837/ref=sr_1_1?__mk_de_DE=%C3%85M%C3%85%C5%BD%C3%95%C3%91&dchild=1&keywords=how+to+make+profits+trading+in+commodities&qid=1622234034&s=books&sr=1-1 version.
But if I look into the one in your first link it's exactly the same as mine.
And the one in the second link also appears to be the same, but only in a different layout.
The first one is more oldschool, like really from back in the day which I think is kinda cool.

I've also bought it after watching a Linda Raschke Webinar, but depending on where you're at with your knowledge and what your goals are, chances are that it's not really what you're looking for.
About half of the book is basically him describing in which year which commodity behaved in which way. So the majority of the book is not really to read like one page after the next, but more to work with it if you're trying to build more of a long term strategy based on seasonals or the like.
If you want to especially go in depth with agricultural commodities and trade them in a longer time frame, there's definitely good value in it, but for generally learning how to trade, Van Tharp's or Mark Douglas' books are better suited and for technical analysis I think Murphy's book is a better choice.

I have the UTMOST respect for Linda.

I have listened, read, watched tons and was in her trading room with her and her husband for a bit. That was great. Funny lady too!

Yeup heard the Gann story too. I think Larry Williams talks about this too.

Cheers
