Hi,
I am looking for an existing or help in writing a very simple indicator.

Basically need to idenntify when a big candle is printed.

On a simple version I need to:
On candle close: if candle size is bigger than a predifined size... play beep sound.

An advanced version could be:
On candle close: if candle size is X percent bigger than the average size of the last N candles.... play beep sound and highlight candle.


I will be happy with the simpler version. All I need is a sound if I am distracted when a big candle got printed.

Your advanced will no doubt require scripting but try this for the simpler case:

Open Alert Mgr by right clicking chart.
He'll display any current configured alerts.
Click the "add" button to open the "Condition Window" containing left/right inputs with the following categories, and add new alert:
Data Series
Drawing Objects
Indicators
Time
Numeric Value

To meet your objective I would set
Data Series Price Type = Close
Offset Type = Pips
Greater Equal
Numeric Value = n
OK
Add alert action(s) such as sound or message or order.

Market is closed so I haven't tested it but this should get you close.

I played around your solution of using alerts had to modify it a bit to make it work.

I added the Range indicator (included in NT) to my chart, and then setup the alert to work on the range indicator when bigger or equal to the numeric value.

Data Series-Price-Close was just giving me price.

I will use it on GC on 5seconds bars to signal the beggining of big movement.
