on https://time.is/, it shows my computer is .9 seconds off.
If running an algo, would setting my chart on local time (computer time)cause a difference
vs having it set on exchange time?

or is date still received the same way for both.

Thanks for any input.

The only time this might (please correct me) will matter will be when you are trading the news at the exact time of news releases.

E.g. Non farm payroll at 8:30 AM EST. If your PC time is lagging (like as of now), your trade entry will be late and you will miss the opportunity to enter the time you want to enter appropriately. Instead, if you then enter DURING the news even spike (instead of before), you will have massive slippage and terrible entries/exits and ahem... Stopouts.

ok makes sense, ty. So does that mean that my charts / market data is delayed .9 seconds if my computer is? If so, I can see
having chart set on exchange time making a big difference.

I can't say 100% but from what I know, my teacher always recommends to sync your PC clocks with time.is

Do it automatically or manually, but do sync them, then check with time.is to make sure they are not lagging anymore. Google if you don't know how to.
