I was just wondering if anyone else is running think or swim under Linux? Or rather is anyone trying to?
I run it under Debian.
It crashes more than it should. Usually when trying to work on preset orders in active trader, and also sometimes when working on watch lists.
I wish it were more reliable. But I manage to work around the problems.

Just figured I would share sad stories with any other Linux users.

I have it installed on Linux (Ubuntu v. 12.8?). Works fine but I had to jump through some hoops to get the correct version of Java installed in order to get it to run. After that it performs fine. It is somewhat slow as the machine it is on has an older processor and memory. I don't need a lot speed since I am using that box in order to learn the command line more effectively. So, yes, to answer your question Think or Swim works on Linux.

Thanks for posting your experience. I am thinking of giving it a try in the next few months. How is the performance? TOS quite a resource hog on Windows 10.

I find that if I have to write something it is safer to write it somewhere else and then past it. Rather than typing directly into TOS. Say naming a watchlist or some Active trader default.. Otherwise the system sometimes hangs and I have to restart. Although sometimes escape will save you.

Sometimes I would like to be able to see things faster than 1 minute. TOS is limited in that way.
I had not noticed it being a resource hog. But I have 32 gigs and pretty good processor.
At the current time I am only trading 1 stock on the 3 minute. But have had larger watchlists in the past.

I also have questions about their execution. I now am trying to mostly enter on Stop/limits. Market orders gave not so great prices. But that may be my trading skills and not a platform issue. However I am not sure how well designed TOS is for active Day traders. Compared to some others

But I can generally work around the problems. If I get to the point where I am trading very larger positions I might look elsewhere. For now, and for reasons I will not go into, its okay.

They do seem to have good support.

I'm running it on antiX 22. I think it has crashed on me once in the past 2 or 3 years. It runs all day every day. I am trying to learn thinkscript to first massage existing indicators and strategies, and eventually end up with a generic strategy that I can just run and consistently make money.
