To cut a long story short, I'm experiencing some hardware issues on the machine I use to download NT replay data, and they are unlikely to be sorted out any time soon.

You may be affected if you're currently used to downloading the most recent CL or ES replay data uploaded by me in the NinjaTrader Market Replay Data section.

If you are affected, I suggest you can download the data directly from your own NT8 machine.

If you need help, send me a DM and I will assist.

Thanks

I have a question that does not seem to have a better thread.

I have been using NT7 for ages and am finally moving to NT8 (slowly)

With NT7 I use market replay to test strategies and indicators without many issues.
I'm trying to get used to NT8 Market Reply but frankly, it sucks.
(Or I'm using it incorrectly / probably a better description of the issue)

When I use replay on NT7 it is usually smooth and not jerky.
When I use replay on NT8 it jerks like a bronco on steroids.

I know the data is in one second packets but why would it feel and look so different on NT8?

It seems there must be a better way.

I've seen the Market Replay uploads on NexusFi but have never used them.
Is using the replay data an improvement?

Are there other methods to resolve the jerky chart issue?

I'm sorry to be asking such newbie questions but today is a holiday and figured someone here has a better solution without all the drama I will face to find out myself.

Thanks in advance.
Please @DavidHP so I will be alerted of replies.

...

Can you make a video of a sequence so that we can compare. I have not been using NT7 for a long time but on my setup things seems to run more smoothly than on NT7.

Thanks,

I think it was a user misconception. (me)
I was perceiving this from my memory of how NT7 Replay looks and feels.
But when I opened NT7 and NT8 and started replay on the same instrument with the same settings, I see they are almost identical.

The issue was that I recently started watching NQ and when watching the replay of NQ in NT8 it seemed very jerky.
I see that it is not an issue with NT8 but with the spread on NQ.
Sometimes the spread on NQ is 3 ticks and that causes the market/chart to jump.

This was not as evident on live data which is tick by tick but the replay is one second granularity it creates the jumpy chart.

Thanks for the suggestion to make a video, it allowed me to test both platforms side-by-side and see they are very similar.

NT 8 Replay uploads have been resumed, starting with a partial CL 01-26.

Rest of CL for the year will follow, along with ES uploads.

Available in the usual Ninjatrader Market Replay data section.
