CME Group to Offer Around-the-Clock Trading for Cryptocurrency Futures and Options

https://www.cmegroup.com/media-room/press-releases/2025/10/02/cme_group_to_offeraround-the-clocktradingforcryptocurrencyfuture.html

Obviously playing catch upto the crypto exchanges. With the recent announcement of 7x24 equity trading have to wonder how long it is until everything is available 7x24.

Some interesting implications of this. Do brokers and software companies now need 7x24 coverage also? If yes, that's a new incremental cost. If no what happens if the data feed goes down, or you need tech support exiting a trade? Also you will now be able to have a 71 hour day trade (5pm Friday to 4pm Sunday)! How will brokers margin that. Day trader rates or overnight rates? Will brokers now start issuing Saturday and Sunday statements? While you might think 'no' as there's no Saturday or Sunday Settlement, brokers issue statements on Holidays when they are no Settlements but the exchanges are open!
