There will be no more support for Windows 10 in few days. What is a not so over killed trading PC computer using multiple monitors for switch to Windows 11?
Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
Could you please clarify?
I'm not sure I understand.
I have two PC's on Windows 10 and 2 on Windows 11.
I think the end of support for Windows 10 is not a huge deal.
If you are worried, you can opt for the one year support subscription from MSFT. (I am not)
P.S. I also run different copies of NT on some of the PC's
I use 8.0 on Windows 10 and 8.1 on My office Windows 10
I also run 8.1 on Windows 11 on Two PC's.
No issues (almost none but a few got ya's that I've resolved)
(some of the indicators won't run on 8.0 that run on 8.1)

I don't think the ending of the support for Windows 10 is a big issue and I will continue to use Windows 10 till I will need a new computer. What might be a problem is the ending of the Windows Defender Antivirus updates. You need a good up-to-date virus protector. For this I installed Avira Free Antivirus. Now I can continue to use my Windows 10 computer for trading as I am used to without any problem.

### Prompt
**Act as a cybersecurity expert specialized in Windows operating systems and end-of-life software management.**
I want to understand the **real security implications** of continuing to use **Windows 10 after October 14**, when Microsoft will no longer release updates, **without purchasing the paid Extended Security Updates (ESU)**.
Explain whether using a **third-party antivirus and security tools** would be **sufficient protection** in that scenario.
Please structure your answer in **four clear sections**:
1. **Overview** of what happens when Windows 10 reaches end of support.
2. **Risks and vulnerabilities** that may arise over time.
3. **Mitigation strategies** using antivirus or other protective measures.
4. **Expert recommendation** on whether continuing to use Windows 10 is advisable.
Use a **neutral, professional tone** and keep the explanation **under 600 words**.
Focus on practical, fact-based reasoning and avoid overly technical jargon.
At the end, provide a short **summary in bullet points (max 5 lines)** that gives a clear “Yes or No” style answer with conditions.
Windows 10 support ends on October 14th and there is no more security or patch updates to Windows 10. I do almost all trading and market activities on my trading desk PC with 3 27" monitors that run on Windows 10. While I have no current issues, it is 9 years behind the technology, and this seems to be a good time to move on to a more efficient, faster, and better graphics. I can definitely improve performance using new computer technologies to run multiple complex Market Analyzers scanning major watch lists using multiple filtering indicators.
My 2 laptops and other PC are running Windows 11, and are used for multipurpose tasks. Regardless, all have the latest NT8 versions installed. I just got tired of managing 4 computers using NT7, NT8.0.26, NT8.0.27, and NT8.1. Now I have to repair non-working indicators and add-ons due to new NT8.1.6.0, just once for all computers.
Seems to be a good time of the year to upgrade at discount prices, but I do not care for overpriced Falcon or EZ Trading Computers.
Thanks a bunch. I love your use of AI and I have experimented with creating indicators. The issue is usually creating a prompt that gets the work done in one shot.
I have been thinking of a prompt for asking the AI to convert a Ninjatrader indicator to use OnRender instead of NT default Draw methods, i.e. Draw.Rectangle(), etc. This is specially useful for efficiency when there are many historical draw objects on a large data set chart. An example is the new PAS Pro indicator that is now a lot faster with OnRender applied.
Cheers!
Here is the summary for the Prompt:
Summary (Key Takeaways)
❌ No, third-party antivirus alone is not sufficient protection.
⚠️ Safe only for offline or restricted use, not general internet activity.
✅ If you must stay on Windows 10, harden the system and reduce exposure.
💡 For long-term safety, upgrade or switch OS before 2026.
🔒 ESU or migration to Windows 11 remains the only secure path.
I agree the Falcon is overpriced. (I have two of them but purchased them used).
They are great but not any better than the ones I've built myself.
I used to run 3 monitors but found too much information kept me from making trades (analysis paralysis).
Now I use (part of) one monitor and my full NT program is the same template on my desktops and laptops.
I would not worry about Windows 10, it will work a long time into the future but you may need to disable the nag screens MSFT keeps popping up to remind you it has expired.
I will eventually upgrade all of my PC's to Windows 11 and the latest NT version but I don't see the urgency.
I have upgraded most of my client's computers to Windows 11 because they worry when MSFT reminds them it is expiring.
Also, when you upgrade to Windows 11, consider a good graphics card.
Most of them will handle multiple monitors without bogging down or slowing the system.
Let me know if you have other questions.

That summary may be correct for normal computer activities.
My trading computers run private antivirus and use a VPN.
But I don't use it to do 'normal' internet activities.
(no porn, etc) But being an IT geek, I am the one all of my clients call to ask if this is 'safe' or if it is spam, virus etc. So I don't do things that would compromise my system.
I also, don't fully trust MSFT to monitor, or protect my systems.
Too many times they have failed to protect my systems in the past and it is not any better now.
