I am currently trading ES mostly (occasionally NQ). I am still working to become profitable, trading mostly break and retest plays, and some reversals. I have been trading for about 1.5 years and go through the normal ups and downs. I would love to connect with other traders who trade similarly. A few things I would like to chat about with people in their journey:
- Dynamic sizing - sizing up on your A+ setups
- Hard stops or mental stops for futures
- Ways to improve journaling - I currently journal every trade, and do 1 trade review each day of a trade that stood out to me that worked (even if I did not execute on it).
I am struggling to find like minded traders who are grinding it out working to make this a real source of income. Please reach out and I would love to connect with you. I am passionate about trading, and happy to help be admin to traders s, etc for any advice from profitable traders!
There is a great group on Bookmaps called "traders-lab-tom-b" that teaches a professional approach to trading ES. Tom Live streams M-F 11:30-1:00p EST on youtube and in if you would like to learn more. It is free and no one will try to sell you anything. Tom out of his kindness is helping young traders learn, that is all. Hope that helps you on your journey to being a profitable trader!
I trade ES too, mostly focusing on retests around key levels. Dynamic sizing has been tricky, but moving to partial scaling instead of full-size entries helped a lot.
Here is a post I made today, maybe it will give you some new ideas. I did not create the thread but I was answering a question from a trader in the thread.
I read most of your thread and it seems you are successful.
Your trading style is not the way I trade. I am a retired scalper, I trade because I love it. I also only trade the micro futures.
I can add to a trade easily and risk as much as I am comfortable …
