ATR(10) will be helpful. I use it also, when volatility is very high, to go to a lower time-frame (30 seconds or 15 seconds) and do the same thing as on the 1 minute. However, that requires some practice.
Yes, the 15 and 30 second are real scalping on the MNQ given the targets I am getting could be some validity to using those micro timeframes. However, I am far from even feeling confident trading the one-minute chart, but I am learning to be more and more patient with the one-minute haha it is certainly a process though.
Today I used the opening huge green to assume the selling was coming into value, but it never did we just would have pops and then new lows even at the close of my 2-hour trading window the market is back testing lows.
The positives today is my ability to take quick profits
The improvement is trading the short side better as all the "runner" trades were on the short side today.
One thing I see improving already about my trading in this 2-hour window with a one-minute chart, is I can feel my discipline improving and still plenty of opportunity to take trades but creates true guard rails and helps me keep days under control.
Today i am consistently pulling 5 point winners but I am thinking that I am risking too much to make it work but overall a good day and just taking what the market gives me but I may need to adjust at some point what I am looking at to get a better risk profile since my targets are pretty dialed in.
