Can anyone tell me if there is a difference between including a moving average to a indicator?

example:

including a 5 SMA on a std RSI (which i guess is including the 5 SMA of "Price" but no sure)

vs

including a 5 SMA of the indicator itself (is this even possible)

thanks

Trying to figure out what the dotted line is. Could it be a moving avg or something else?

i have tried a few ma's but it doesn't give the "flat look" that the dotted line is drawing.

the ma's seem to draw more of a "smoothed" look.

pretty close.

i noticed that the supertrend indicator i have (SuperTrendT3) will draw the red and green lines but they don't connect so the result is a "space" between the two lines.

UPtrend and DOWNtrend dont meet on some of the SuperTrend indicators. When price intersects one of them, generally the trend has changed direction
