Is it possible to code a flashing object ( i.e. an arrow, a triangle, dot, diamond, etc.) in an indicator in NT7? It will be interesting to have a flashing alert, buy, or sell signal on the screen.

Hi aligator

You could use a cycle with
DrawArrowDown(string tag, int bar, double y, Color.Red)
DrawArrowDown(string tag, int bar, double y, Color.Transparent)

using same bar and y coordinate, the arrow should alternate between red and transparent on bar update.

I suggest to use sound alerts you can notice them even if you're not in front of the screen or doing something else with your computer.

NinjaTrader is event driven, both OnBarUpdate() and Plot() will only be triggered with a new incoming tick. So it will not flash, if no new ticks are registered. Also the Draw() methods can slow down NinjaTrader considerably, if frequently executed (news release), a flashing signal might contribute to a freeze of NT. Not recommended.

I think that a sound alert with a rearm interval is a much better option to attract your attention than a flashing signal. You will even notice it, if you are watching some pretty girls through your office window.

Thanks Redratsal and FT. Great point.

p.s. My sound alerts are tied to my intercom system and I didn't want the pretty girl to run upstairs every time she hears the whistle and I am in a trade )

one can always create a custom timer and use the ChartControl.Refresh() for the issue.
