My .02 on the runner question - I've never found it useful to go to BE on a runner. When a trade becomes a runner for me the MM kicks in. Based on conditions, as price pushes higher the Stop will step and it's matched to a given frequency (depending on chart range). So I guess you could say the BE is more like a stepping stop. Along the way though, you could have a couple of conditions that are checked for and that will tighten it up further or negate it and exit immediately. It's all context dependent. After a runner is off to the races, the MM manages the trade and the context of what is occuring in the market can augment that MM if a condition arises that you know has a high probability of changing the direction of the move (not small retracements..that's more random than anything).

Mike,
Just curious. Do you ever go to BE on the runner lots?

Andrew

Not really. Generally I just manually move my stop. I don't even use an ATM anymore, I just handle it manually. On a 'runner' or my 3rd lot I tend to give it a bit of extra room but not so much that you give up a large portion of what you had on the table. For CL, there are usually a couple of times in the morning where it will 'blast off' and run 50-100 ticks in a few minutes. I just try to position myself for these where possible. But you can't win them all, you can't be perfect on everything, all you can do is get a feel for your market with your trading style and make the best of it, using a statistics to help you separate fact from feeling.

Mike
