I am not sure that's entirely correct based on the attached showing NT/Rithmic through Vision Financial Markets. Unless the tick data is coming from somewhere else other than Rithmic?
Historical data is coming from somewhere else. None other than Ninja Trader themselves.
NT take the same Rithmic feed you get and store the data on their own servers and NT then provides this to you as your historical data (unless you already have it populated from saving live data as it happens) when you log onto NT and open your connection to Rithmic/Vision.
This is why you will sometimes get gaps in historical data because if NT lose connection with Rithmic then NT cannot capture that trading data and have no way of fixing it later - just the same situation if you as a trader lose your Rithmic connection. If you lose your connection to Rithmic, but NT don't, then you will be able to populate the missing historical data by refreshing your data and the missing bits will come to you from NT's historical data server.
There are times I get rithmic disconnects on weekend. I am guessing they do maintenance on the feed. I very very rarely have gotten a disconnect during the week. In fact I can't remember last time that happened. Very reliable, stable and fast. Just does what it is supposed to do without a lot of drama.
"The day I became a winning trader was the day it became boring. Daily losses no longer bother me and daily wins no longer excited me. Took years of pain and busting a few accounts before finally got my mind right. I survived the darkness within and now just chillax and let my black box do the work."
If your internet is via the ADSL2+ technology (as opposed to fiber) check with your ISP that they have 'interleaving' turned OFF for you - normally ISP's default to have it on. Also ensure with your ISP that your ADSL broadband plan does not have data throttling or data shaping - this is where the ISP tries to fairly share broadband capacity by slowing down certain types of data eg peer to peer downloads. Trouble is this type of data traffic is similar to trading data and an ISP who applies data throttling can impact the reliability of your trading data feed.
I had all these problems when I first started trading (note my location) and spent hours and hours with ZenFire guys getting to the bottom of it and the above solutions fixed my issues.
