I had not tried youtube for some time so I just tried it again. The quality is much better (HD) than my previous attempts, but still re-sizes it to a little less than half size making the numbers pretty small for my taste. My test of Vimeo was more recent. I guess, for the time being, I will host my own mp4 files on my server and use a text link.

Can you help answer these questions from other members on NexusFi?
Dunno, still sounds like you are doing something wrong. A properly encoded video will look identical to its original content. Both YouTube and Vimeo will retain native resolution, so long as you're uploading a compatible encode.
By my standards, both of these are very difficult to read if the details have relevance to what is being taught. I used to teach a presentation skills workshop for technical people and this is just not to my standards. I do want people to easily read the data without straining and so far the only way I've found to do that is by hosting my own mp4s. I don't mind at all. It's just that I haven't figured out how to use a picture link rather than a text link using this BBs coding for my videos.

What resolution is your monitor? Because the video looks perfect on my side, there is no artifacting or scaling - thats why I still think its something on your end.
That video was not recorded in HD, you can see YouTube was only showing it in 360 or 480p, not 720p or 1080p. I don't use YouTube so can't help you, also I don't know what encoder you are using... but I can tell you it is possible, as others do it on this forum. I also have used Vimeo in the past personally, and know it does 1080p like the video example I showed you which was an exact 1:1 quality wise.
Anyway, we are waaaaay here. You should start a new thread and maybe someone that uses YouTube can help you, or one of these days I'll make a video showing how to do it and will research it for you at that time.
My best guess is the problem is the software you are using to record or encode it is either not supporting HD, or you don't have it set properly.
