I was trading that day too. You learn something about markets on days like this. Such as, how fast things can move. And such as, what happens when there is no one interested in taking the other side of your trade when you want to get out.
I wasn't tuned in to that guy at the time, but I remember him, or someone just like him, who had a channel on TOS as I recall. He would call out what was going on in the pit -- whether big traders were doing something notable, as well as call out the bids and offers in that rapid auction-voice. These squawk service things used to be popular when there was a pit.
I stopped listening to him because I never could figure out what was important and what was just excited noise. I can get pointlessly excited without needing anyone's help, anyway.
